12 May - Engelberg
Today we took a train from Luzern to the resort village of Engelberg and did a short hike to the Gasthaus Geschnialp and had a nice hiker's lunch at the Restaurant Ritz. We each had a very fresh salad followed by a shared Bundnerfleish (air dried meats) and Cheese platter. After lunch we took a different route back down to the train station in Engelberg, and back to Luzern. We had dinner at a small pizza restaurant near the apartment.

The "trail" up to Gershnialp starts on a small road - it was steeper than it looks!!

The road continued farther and farther up the mountainside.

We spotted this shiny little guy on the roadside on the way up.

Finally, the trail left the road into a wooded forest.

The trail led through a very lush forest. Unfortunately, the weather was overcast and rainy so we couldn't see the surrounding high peaks.
